SAE Standards for WDM LAN: Optical Network Architecture, Access, Control and Physical Layer Standards

Abstract
This paper reviews recent progress and ongoing standards development for WDM LANs within the SAE International’s Avionics Systems Division (ASD) - Technical Committee AS-3. The focus is on AS5659 standards documents that address specification of optical backbone network interfaces, access and aggregation techniques, network control and the optical physical layer.
